Kathmandu, Nov 27: President Ramchandra Paudel has suggested the film producers to give priority to the nature and culture of Nepal with the use of modern technology.
The film development could be linked to Nepal's tourism industry, according to him.
President Paudel said it during a programme the Film Development Board organized at his Office, Shital Niwas to confer various awards, including the 'National Film Award, 2080.
"Nepali film has significant role on protection and promotion of Nepali language, culture and tradition," he said, adding that film not only entertains but it is also an effective medium to awake individual and society.
In the President's observation, there is shifting trend in filming at present for the recent producers focus on touching stories rather than heroism and stardom. This new trend has grabbed attention, he added. Original stories evidently attract audience.
Paudel conferred on the 'National Film Award,2080' to Bulaki, while various actors including Bipin Karki, Swastima Khadka, Nischal Basnet, Mitra Dev Gurung, Shiva Dhakal, and Raj Bahadur Sane were awarded.
In the category of indigenous cinema 'Lojima' was picked. It is in Limbu language, while commercially successful cinema was 'Jari'.
President Paudel conferred 'Lifetime Achievement Award' to actress Chaitya Devi Singh. The award carried the purse of Rs 375 thousand and a certificate. Chaitya Devi had performed in the first film of Nepal 'Aama'.
Bipin Karki was announced the best actor for this year.
On the occasion, Minister for Communications and Information, Prithvi Subba Gurung, said film is an integral part of prosperous Nepal. "Government is well aware of the importance of film," he added.(RSS)
