By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, Aug 17: The Federation of Nepalese Tribes of Israel organised a programme reflecting the cultural identity of the tribal communities with original costumes and dance performances on August 12 in Israel.
As announced by the United Nations, the programme of exchange of greetings on the 28th World Indigenous People's Day was held with the main goals of protecting tribal knowledge and highlighting the role of tribal women in its transmission.
Kanta Rijal, the Nepali ambassador to Israel, was the chief guest at the event. In addition, there was a significant presence of various political organisations, social, cultural, religious, art, literary organisations and media workers active in Israel. The programme was coordinated by Dick Kumar Tamu.
Nani Maya Yonjan Tamang, the president of the federation, said that World International Tribal Day has been celebrated every year for the past twelve years in Israel.
