Monsoon break likely to end from Tuesday

Kathmandu, July 18: There is partly to generally cloudy throughout the country. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely to take place at some places in the hilly regions of the country and at one or two places in the rest of the country, Meteorological Forecasting Division said.    

Similarly, tonight there will be partly to generally cloudy throughout the country and light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely to occur in some places of hilly regions of the country and at one or two places in the rest of the country. There are chances of heavy rainfall at one or two places in Sudur Paschim Province.    

According to the Division's analysis, presently axis of the monsoon trough has located south of the normal position. The country is witnessing a rise in temperature for the past few days. It said the shifting of the monsoon trough towards the south from the normal position caused a monsoon break, leading to the temperature rise. Meteorologist Hira Bhattarai said this year more heat is felt in hilly regions including in the Kathmandu Valley than in previous years.    

As Bhattarai said, the monsoon trough is likely to move back towards Nepal from Tuesday with the possibility of rainfall, giving some respite from the heat. (RSS)
