BY AMAR RAJ NAHARKI Tanahun, July 10: Vyas Municipality has provided equipment assistance to its locals, while Bhimad Municipality mother goats to the disabled for easy livelihood. Both municipalities are in Tanahun district.
Bishal Dhakal, Vyas Information and Technology Officer, said that the municipality had provided chowmin mixture and machine, leaf plate machine, hand tractor and sewing machine as per the demand of the entrepreneurs on Friday. Mayor Baikuntha Neupane, Deputy Mayor Indira Darai and Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Dilliram Sigdel jointly handed over the equipment.
The municipality handed over the equipment to various domestic and small-scale industries operating in the municipality to uplift the living standards and increase income of the entrepreneurs, said Meghnath Acharya, chief of Industry and Tourism Branch. The equipment was handed with 80 per cent grant from the municipality and 20 per cent cost sharing of the group, added Acharya.
The municipality had implemented this assistance grant programme in Wards 6, 7, 8 and 9 last year and in wards 1, 10 and 12 in the current fiscal year.
CAO Dilliram Sigdel informed that the equipment was handed over after providing various trainings to the entrepreneurs through the Small Enterprise Development Programme. Despite the target of 90 people in the current fiscal year, 104 entrepreneurs were created, said Sigdel.
Likewise, Deputy Mayor of Bhimad Municipality Sharada Khanal had handed over mother goats reaching the target people (disabled with C and D category) in different wards of the municipality on Wednesday. Handing over the goats, she urged the recipients to properly utilise the assistance provided by the municipality.
According to a member of the Bhimad Municipality-level Disability Coordinating Committee Bhishnu Prasad Gautam, breeding goats were given to 36 target people. Similarly, assistance materials were handed to 25 disabled people.
Tekawati Dhakal, Information Officer of Bhimad Municipality, said that goat worth Rs. 5 lakh and assistance materials worth Rs. 1 lakh were handed over.
According to the municipality, wheelchairs were given to six people, crutches to five, elbow stick to two and white cane to six.
According to the Disability Coordinating Committee Bhimad, 438 people with various disabilities had been identified in the municipality and cards were distributed according to the category.
