Kathmandu, July 7 : Canada has defeated Nepal in the second and final one-day cricket tournament.
Canada edged Nepal by 83 runs in
the tournament held last night at Maple Leaf Cricket Stadium in King City,
Canada.
Canada had presented a 189-run target
before Nepal. Nepal was limited to 105 runs at the loss of all wickets on 39.2
overs.
Dev Khanal was the top scorer for
Nepal with 26 runs while Pawan Saraf contributed 14 runs.
Likewise, Binod Bhandari, Basir
Ahamed, and Adil Alam added equal 13 runs.
Captain Sandeep Lamichhane made 11
runs, Rohit Poudel six, Karan KC 5, and Kushal Bhurtel 1 for Nepal. Deependra
Singh Airi and Arif Sheikh were sent to the pavilion without any score.
Canada's bowlers Amar Khalid,
Salman Najar, Romel Sahajad, Sad Win Jafar, and Harsha Thaker took equal two
wickets.
Put to bat first after losing the toss,
Canada had gathered 188 runs at the loss of nine wickets in 50 overs.
Canada's Shreyas Mova made 50 runs
while Aron Johnson contributed 44 runs. Likewise, Amar Khalid gathered 30 runs
for Canada.
The first ODI against Canada was
canceled due to rain.
Nepal made a Canada visit before
the triangular ODI series to be organized in Scotland under the ICC World Cup
League-2. Nepal will take on Scotland and Namibia in the second league.
