Committee formed to find causes of cholera in Kathmandu

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, June 22: A five-member probe committee has been formed to investigate into the causes of cholera in Kathmandu and recommend ways for its prevention and control.

The District Public Health Office of Kathmandu formed the committee under the coordination of Ram Krishna Phuyal, an officer at the Kathmandu District Public Health Office on Wednesday.

Phuyal said that samples of water in jars, tube-wells, taps of places where cholera patients have been found are sent for laboratory tests at the National Public Health Laboratory.

"We hope to get the report of the lab test by this evening," said Phuyal. 

At least four cholera patients have been confirmed in the Kathmandu Valley so far.

Meanwhile, RSS quoted the District Public Health Office chief Basanta Adhikari saying that four cases of cholera have been confirmed at Bagbazar, Bhotebahal and Dillibazar.
