By Our Correspondent,Humla, Feb.1: The Food Management and Trading Company is going to establish indigenous crop procurement centres in all seven rural municipalities of Humla district.
The procurement centres are going to be established this fiscal year in coordination and collaboration with the rural municipalities.
Non-Gazetted first class Officer of FMTC, Humla, Nabin Acharya said that indigenous crop procurement centres are going to be established in all seven rural municipalities to promote indigenous crops produced in the district.
This effort is being made by the FMTC to provide farmers with access to indigenous crop procurement at the local level.
Currently, the FMTC has been selling food grains with transportation subsidies to the general public of all seven rural municipalities from branches, depots and sales centres.
Nine structures have been established in all seven rural municipalities for the sale of food grains.
Now, one purchase centre each will be established in all rural municipalities.
He said that agreements have been reached with Simkot, Sarkegad and Tanjakot rural municipalities and that the preparations are underway to sign agreements with the remaining four rural municipalities soon to establish purchase centres.
To establish the procurement centre, the rural municipality will have to arrange for a building. The FMTC will arrange manpower and other necessary resources.
After the procurement centre is established, the FMTC will directly transport the indigenous crops purchased from farmers and supply them to Kathmandu.
The FMTC has been purchasing Humla's indigenous crops, including chino, beans, kaguno, millet and uwa from its branch office for the past two years.
