Fiction Award to four authors

By A Staff Reporter Kathmandu, June 14: Dambar Kumari–Ganesh Koirala Academy has honoured four fiction authors with fiction awards at a programme organised in Kathmandu.

Vice-Chancellor of Nepal Academy Jagaman Gurung presented Dambar Kumari Ganesh Koirala Fiction Award to Gita Keshari, Parashu Pradhan, Benju Sharma and Dhruba Chandra Gautam for the year 2076, 2077, 2078 and 2079 BS respectively. 

Due to COVID lockdown, the award ceremonies were postponed for three years.

Established by storywriter Mandira Madhushree in honour of her mother Dambar Kumari and father Ganesh Koirala, the award is presented to a fiction author every year for their outstanding contribution to the field of Nepali fiction. The award carries a purse of Rs. 15,000.

At the programme Vice Chancellor Gurung highlighted contribution of Madhushree to the development of Nepal fiction. 

Chief of Fiction Department of Nepal Academy Maya Thakuri, poets SP Koirala and Krishna Mohan Koirala and journalist Tulsihari Koirala hailed the contributions made by the awarded authors in the field of Nepali fiction.
