Actress Deeya reaches atop Mt. Everest

By A Staff Reporter Kathmandu, May 28: Actress Deeya Pun climbed Mount Everest (Sagarmatha), the highest peak of the world, on Friday morning. 

She was accompanied by mountaineers Nirmal Purja, Mingma Tenzi Sherpa and others. She reached atop Mt. Everest through Purja’s Elite Expedition. A crew of 20 including Nirmal and Deeya climbed the 8,848.86-meter peak in the morning. 

Purja informed that everyone returned to the South Cole safely from the peak. “What a season on Mt. Everest! And what a great way to end it. I am so proud of all the team members who attempted their highest feat! Pushing through their limits to achieve their new possible. Congratulations to the whole team who summited Mt. Everest today! Everyone is back at the South Cole safe and warm. And as I always say 100% summit success to all who have left camp 2,” Purja informed through Facebook on Friday. 

Actress Pun, who started her climbing career by conquering Mount Aconcagua, the 6,961-meter high peak in Argentina, has also climbed 8,163-meter Mount Manaslu. She climbed Mt. Everest for three charities at her own expense of Rs. 4.2 million. 

The three charities that actress Pun is going to support are National Health Service (NHS) Together in the UK, Colchester Hospitals Charity and Children and Youth First in Nepal. Last week, singer Raju Lama also conquered Mt. Everest to spread awareness on climate change.
