By Siraj Khan,Nepalgunj, Apr. 2: ‘Nepalgunj Street Food and Beverage Festival’ is set to be organised for the first time in Nepalgunj in Banke district.
According to the organisers, the Hotel Entrepreneurs’ Association Banke and Hotel Association Nepal Banke, the festival will run for three days from April 24 to 26.
Chairperson of the Hotel Entrepreneurs’ Association Banke, Bhim Kandel, said the festival is being organised with the objective of promoting tourism in Nepalgunj, showcasing local cuisine, and encouraging the hotel and restaurant business.
He said the event is also aimed at protecting the rights and interests of hotel and tourism entrepreneurs within Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City, promoting local culture and food, and attracting both domestic and international tourists.
The festival will take place along Surkhet Road within Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City, stretching westwards from the Sushil Koirala Memorial Gate to Waterpark.
The event will feature stalls offering delicious local street food, a variety of traditional and modern dishes, and beverages. In addition, local art, culture, and entertainment programmes will also be presented, said the organisers.
President of Hotel Association Nepal (HAN) Banke, Diwakar Khanal, said the festival, which is being organised to help revitalise the economic condition of Nepalgunj, is expected to encourage local entrepreneurs, support domestic tourism, and establish Nepalgunj as a food destination.
According to him, visitors attending the festival will also be able to enjoy a wide range of food dishes, live music, cultural performances, and other attractive activities.
To ensure the festival is well managed and grand in scale, the Hotel Entrepreneurs’ Association Banke said that a 251-member main organising committee and 17 different sub-committees have been formed.
