blog

By A Staff Reporter Kathmandu, May 19: Actor and producer Bikram D Joshi will be cycling 240 mile (around 387 KM).

Joshi, actor  of Happy Days, Password and Hello Jindagi, is going to have a London to Paris Charity Ride with six Nepali friends on Friday  with the aim of raising funds for the Children’s Home run by Help Nepal Network in Dhulikhel. The cycling team includes Joshi, Shulav Pant, Sushil Prasai, Manoj Shrestha, Prashidha Pradhan, Sunil Karki and Lachhuman Gurung.

They will depart from London’s London Bridge on Friday, cycling for three days in a row to reach the Eiffel Tower in Paris on May 22. “We plan to travel from London to Paris by manual bicycle (turning the pedal),” said actor Joshi.

He had been preparing for the trip for three weeks while his friends have been planning this trip for four years now.

“Even though we have made the plan years ago, we are materialising it now,” said actor Joshi.

He also informed that he has been cycling for four to five hours a day for three weeks.

Since he has been exercising regularly for a long time, he believes that even a short period of preparation will be enough to cross the distance 240 miles.

The team has decided to bear all the expenses incurred during the cycle journey by the team members themselves.

However, they will sail in the sea between London and Paris.

He said they aim to raise at least 5,000 (about Rs. 800,000) from the bicycle trip organised by the Woolwich Arsenal Riders Club and the Nepal Youth Association UK. By now, 98 people from around the world have contributed around 3,000 Pound since the campaign began.

He also informed that anyone can donate money through an online called JustGiving.com. He has requested everyone from all over the world to give love, support and encouragement to the orphans.
