Over 75,000 people visited Gorkha Palace Museum in 8 months
Gorkha, Feb 20 : More than 75 thousand people have visited the Gorkha Palace Museum, which is being developed as a place for the study of history of Nepal's unification, in the past eight months. According to the head of the Museum, Jaya Narayan Karki, 75,791 people, including domestic and foreign tourists, visited the museum in the eight months. Karki said the largest number of visitors to the museum is that of students on educational tour. "Information related to the history of Nepal's unification campaign can be gathered and observed in the Gorkha Palace Museum," Karki said, adding that students from many districts come to visit here during the academic tour season. Similarly, tourists from SAARC countries and other countries also visit the Gorkha Palace Museum. According to Chief Karki, 43,848 students visited the museum. As many as 30,704 domestic tourists, 1,166 from third countries and 73 from SAARC countries have visited the museum during the period. One can learn about the history of the Shah Dynasty kings including King Prithvi Narayan Shah, the unifier of modern Nepal. Prithvi Narayan Shah's birth astrology chart, the artistic wooden carvings and war weapons are kept on display at the museum. Similarly, there are 12 exhibition rooms in the museum, including dummy of King Prithvi Narayan Shah, the Upadesh Kaksha or the room where the manuscripts of Shah's wise counsels is kept, the 'Genealogy room', religious tradition room reflecting the culture and traditions of different castes.
