Taksar (Bhojpur), April 20: Seven
teams from Nepal and one from India are set to participate in the 8th
International Invitational Mayor Gold Cup football tournament.
The tournament will feature
Georgian Football Club India, Armed Police Force Nepal, Church Boys United, LX
City Morang, Bhagwati Sports Club Khotang, Nawobuddha Football Club Saptari,
Salahesh Football Club Siraha and the host Bhojpur District Football
Association, according to the organizers.
Hosted by the District Football
Association with financial support of Bhojpur Municipality, the tournament will
be held from April 27 to May 3. Bhojpur Municipality has sponsored Rs 3 million
for the tournament to be held at the stadium in Kodar, Bhojpur-7 while the
other funds will be collected from co-sponsors, the organizers said.
The winner and runner-up of the
competition will receive a cash prize of Rs 500,000 and Rs 300,000 respectively
along with the cup, medal and certificates.
Prabin Suwal, the chair of District
Football Association, shared the best player, highest scorer, and best
goalkeeper will received prizes under individual categories.
In the seventh edition held last
year, Church Boys United, Kathmandu had defeated Tribhuvan Army Club 4-2 in a
penalty shootout to be crowned the champions. (RSS)
