All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) on Thursday appointed Megh Raj KC as the head coach of Nepal’s U-20 National Football Team. ANFA appointed KC for the SAFF U-20 Championship and AFC U-20 Asian Cup Qualifiers. One of the high profile coaches of domestic football, KC will take charge of the team from coming Tuesday. KC helped Satdobato Youth Club seal its maiden journey in the Martyr’s Memorial ‘A’ Division League at the fourth place.
The numbers of squash players in Nepal are not high despite playing for three decades and more. Young players rarely pursue a career in squash. Due to weak structure, squash players hardly get a chance of exposure. Nepal Squash Rackets Association (NSRA) came up with a plan to make squash active during the general assembly. Chairman Kishor Maharjan said the association has planned to conduct six national-level tournaments and provide proper training for the national players. NSRA moved ahead with its plan by bringing a foreign coach two weeks ago. Renzo Andorno, the ‘Qualified Level Two’ coach, is currently training the Nepali squash team. Italian Renzo has 20 years of experience working as a squash coach.

Sergei Loznitsa, one of Ukraine’s most acclaimed filmmakers, was putting the finishing touches on his documentary “The Natural History of Destruction” when Russian invaded Ukraine in February. The film, which premiered Monday in Cannes, uses extensive archival footage to depict the Allied bombing campaign of Germany during World War II. The question at the heart of the film, inspired by W.G. Sebald’s 1999 book of the same name, is about the morality of targeting civilian populations in times of war.
A musical film Manis Thulo Dilale Huncha is going to be made. Making of the film was announced recently. Devendra Pandey is directing the film being produced under the banner of Saurpani Media. The shooting of the movie began on Wednesday. Abhinash Neupane, Shreya Karki, Mohan Niraula, Uttam KC, Saru Sunuwar, Shubham Acharya and Sabina Neupane are doing the film. Produced by Mani Nepali Paneru, the film will feature six folk songs collected by Paneru himself.
Bheri Hospital has been recognised as a best hospital for second time among all the federal hospital across the nation. The hospital was recognised as a best hospital by implementing the minimum service standard. According to the hospital, it was rewarded as the best hospital by the evaluation of the Department of Health Services under the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP). “We feel proud as our hospital has been rewarded as a best hospital for the second time,” Dr. Birendra Bahadur Chand, chief of the hospital.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has decided to provide various facilities to foreign airlines flying in and out of the newly-inaugurated Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA). The aviation regulatory body has introduced a policy to provide different facilities for a period of one year to attract foreign airline companies to the nation’s second international airport.

The Supreme Court has revoked its earlier verdict to release former Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Armed Police Force Nepal Ranjan Koirala, who was jailed on charge of murdering his wife (Gita). A full bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Deepak Kumar Karki, Justices Tanka Bahadur Moktan and Dr. Kumar Chundal on Thursday reviewed the case and decided to reverse the earlier decision taken by suspended Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana to curtail Koirala’s jail term and release him.
The ruling Nepali Congress swept the local level election held on May 13 by winning 139 posts of mayor and 110 deputy mayors of 293 municipalities, sub-metropolis and metropolis. Similarly, the party secured chief positions in 188 and deputy chief positions in 190 rural municipalities out of 460 local units. It has won 2,655 ward chairs, 2,596 female ward members, 2,541 Dalit women members and 5293 ward members. The main opposition CPN-UML has secured the second position by winning 82 mayors and 111 deputy mayors. Its one candidate is leading in one municipality.
