Interaction on 'Matipuran' held

Kathmandu, May 12: A discourse on the anthology of satirical essays 'Matipuran', penned by senior journalist Baladev Thapa, was held in the capital on Sunday. 

Speakers remarked that the book stands as an exceptional contribution to satirical writing.

Addressing the gathering, senior satirist Ram Kumar Pandey remarked that the field of satire holds a prestigious position both in Nepal and abroad. 

"Thapa's 'Matipuran' further strengthens this genre," he announced.

Dr. Indul KC stated that the collection delivers a sharp critique of recent political events and figures. "The book will serve as a significant document in the field of satire," he said, wishing for its success.

Similarly, Murahari Rayamajhi ‘Hari’ described the book as highly readable and capable of revitalising the satirical genre in Nepali literature. He also provided constructive suggestions regarding minor shortcomings in the work.

Journalist Gyanmani Nepal expressed hope that 'Matipuran' would help reform the mindsets of those who have strayed. "While politics itself is not inherently bad, it has failed to yield positive results in Nepal due to the influence of the wrong individuals," he noted, adding the book satirises effectively.Chair of the event, Dhundiraj Pokharel, praised the author for focusing on significant subject matter with great depth. "I hope to see even more refined works from the author in the days ahead," he said.

Hari Manjushree, founding chairperson of Shabdayatra Publications, expressed happiness to have published such a readable book. 

Author Baladev Thapa remarked that the critique from experts made him realise the significance of his work and he committed to incorporating the advice in his future writings.

Published by the Shabdayatra Publications, the book comprises 108 satirical essays written in a dialogic style. 

Thapa began his journalism career in 2032 BS. Born in 2007 BS in Gundu, Bhaktapur, he was the editor at various weekly newspapers, including Saptahik Nepali Awaj.
