By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu,may,1: Nepal Police has issued a warning to content creators for using artificial intelligence (AI) to produce and circulate misleading and false information, particularly on social media.

The police said there has been a growing trend of manipulating official elements such as Nepal Police uniforms, logos and rank insignia using AI to create deceptive content and disseminate it online.

Such materials could fuel confusion and spread rumours, the police cautioned, urging the public to remain vigilant.

In a statement posted on its official social media accounts, Nepal Police said, “While it is a shared responsibility to keep the public informed on sensitive issues such as security, the misuse of AI to distort institutional symbols and uniforms and publish or broadcast such content may create confusion and misinformation in society. We urge content creators to exercise caution.”

The police also warned that producing and distributing misleading content would invite legal action in accordance with prevailing laws.
