By Sahara Limbu, Phungling, April 9: Aathrai Tribeni rural municipality in Taplejung district has decided to grant a public holiday only on Saturdays, reducing the weekly holiday to one day.
According to Chairperson of the Aathrai Triben Rural Municipality, Dipendra Pomu (Dipen), the offices will remain closed only on Saturdays, while regular services will continue from Sunday to Friday.
Chairperson Pomu said the decision was taken to minimize the difficulties faced by service seekers due to frequent office closures and public holidays.
He said that the move aims to ensure easier access to public services for locals.
Office hours will remain as usual, operating from 10 AM to 5 PM.
Similarly, in cases where urgent work requires office operation even on holidays, the municipality has arranged to continue services by providing employees with additional incentives.
The rural municipality believes that this decision will help make public services more accessible and convenient for the people.
Earlier, the Government of Nepal had decided to maintain office hours from 9 AM to 5 PM and provide two weekly holidays on Saturdays and Sundays. However, Aathrai Triveni Rural Municipality has opted to observe only Saturday as the weekly public holiday.
