Kathmandu, March 19: Shital Prasad Mahato has been appointed as the Chief Editor of the National News Agency (Rastriya Samachar Samiti–RSS). He assumed office today.
The RSS management has made several reshuffles in departmental responsibilities with the aim of making its services more effective, efficient, high-quality, result-oriented, and accountable.
As per a letter signed by RSS Executive Chair Dharmendra Jha, Mahato has been transferred to the post from the administration section. Prior to this, he served as Chief Administrator.
Mahato has been working with RSS as a permanent journalist since 2056 BS. He served for a long time at the then Narayani Zonal Office in Birgunj and also as a news reporter and editor at the RSS central office. He is a former Central Secretary of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ).
Former Chief Editor Uttam Silwal has been assigned the responsibilities of Managing Editor. Silwal has previously served as RSS Chief Reporter and Chief Administrator. The revised RSS Regulation, 2082 BS, includes the provision of a Managing Editor.
Similarly, RSS News Division Deputy Chief Yekraj Pathak has been reappointed as Chief Reporter. He has previously served as the Chief Editor.
Narayan Prasad Neupane, the former Chief Reporter, has been appointed Coordinator for investigative news and podcast service at RSS.
Silwal, Mahato, Pathak and Neupane assumed their respective responsibilities today in the presence of RSS General Manager Sandip Rai. (RSS)
