By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Mar. 18; Prime Minister Sushila Karki has thanked the CPN-UML for its support in ensuring the peaceful conduct of the House of Representatives election.

Prime Minister Karki invited the UML leaders to Baluwatar on Tuesday to express her gratitude. UML leaders Ishwar Pokhrel, Pradeep Gyawali and Mahesh Bartaula reached the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar.

According to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, during the meeting, she appreciated the party’s role in helping ensure peaceful and successful election

She said, “In such a difficult situation, elections were the only viable means of achieving a peaceful resolution. I extend my sincere thanks for your constructive role and active participation in the election, keeping in mind your responsibility towards the nation.”

She also consoled the UML leadership, saying electoral victories and defeats are a natural part of the democratic process and that they should not be disheartened by a single result.

She said, “A single electoral verdict does not determine a party’s standing forever. We have witnessed the ups and downs experienced by parties during the times of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Indira Gandhi in India. As politics is a continuous endeavour, I urge you to remain committed to the issues of the nation and its people.

UML leaders, in turn, congratulated Prime Minister Karki and her government for conducting the election in a peaceful and widely acceptable manner.

They also thanked the government for providing leadership to the country during a difficult period and for delivering an inclusive, peaceful, and democratic process.

They further praised the government, stating that the administration remained impartial during the election. They also shared their experience that the election campaign was healthier, more peaceful, and less expensive compared to previous ones.

Earlier, on Sunday, Prime Minister Karki visited UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli at his residence in Gundu to offer condolences, as he is mourning the demise of his father.
