NC's Gauchan elected HoR member from Mustang

Mustang, March 6: Yogesh Gauchan of the Nepali Congress (NC) has been elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Mustang district securing 3,307 votes. 

According to the Office of the Election Officer in Mustang, Gauchan defeated his closest rival Indradhar Dhandu Bista of the CPN (UML) by a margin of 1,504 votes.  Bista received 1,803 votes. 

Similarly, Aditya Chandra Thakali of the Rastriya Swatantra Party obtained 759 votes. 

Other candidates in fray were Kamala Lalchan of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party who gained 161 votes while Ngutuk Gurung (Tiger) of the Nepali Communist Party got 151 votes. 

Dr Surendra Sherchan of Ujyalo Nepal Party garnered 85 votes while Ajay BK of Aam Janata Party earned 9 votes. Yam Bahadur Gurung of Mangol National Organization secured 3 votes.

Voting was conducted at 39 polling centres across five local levels in Mustang district having only one constituency. The Election Commission had listed a total of 11,328 voters in Mustang. 

According to the Office of the Election Officer, out of 6,398 votes cast, 107 votes were invalid. (RSS)
