By Gyanu Pangeni, Madhya Bindu, Feb. 26: Expansion work of the Narayangadh–Butwal Road will be accelerated, taking advantage of the reduced traffic during the election period.
The project office stated that since the number of vehicles on the road decreases during elections, manpower arrangements have been adjusted to carry out more work during that time.
According to Eastern Section Information Officer Shiva Khanal, the project may be affected for about 10 days as many Nepali workers return home to vote. To compensate for this, Indian laborers have been brought in to continue the work.
“Most of the workers involved in construction are from Dang and Salyan. They need a few days to travel home and return for voting,” Khanal said. “So we are aiming to complete more work than usual during the election period when traffic pressure is lower.”
Project Manager Rakesh Jha informed that around 500 workers are currently deployed in the Nawalpur section. “Since much of the remaining work has to be done using machinery, about 400 laborers along with around 100 drivers and technicians are working at the site,” he said.
According to Information Officer Khanal, the Daunne section in Nawalpur has been given high priority at present. Asphalt paving work is in its final stage, while construction of road dividers in the middle section and service lanes in market areas is ongoing. Most of the bridges have already been completed, and the Arun Khola bridge will come into operation from Thursday.
The target is to complete asphalt paving and service lane construction by the end of Chaitra (mid-April).

In the Daunne area, only concrete works and drainage construction remain. Of the four kilometers requiring concrete paving, 2.2 kilometers have been completed and 1.8 kilometers remain.
The project has claimed that one-side concrete paving in the Daunne section will be completed by Jestha (around mid-June), making traffic movement smoother.
