By Bashudev Sharma, Jajarkot, Feb 25: A fire broke out at a shop in the district headquarters of Jajarkot, causing an estimated loss of around Rs. 2.5 million.
The incident occurred at about 12 midnight on Tuesday at the shop owned by Karna Bahadur Oli, located at Shantichautara Bus Park, Bheri Municipality–4.
The fire started due to an electrical short circuit at Gaurav and Saurabh Plastic and Mobile Shop, resulting in damages worth approximately Rs. 2.5 million.
According to Tikal Acharya, proprietor of OK Suppliers at Shantichautara Bus Park in Bheri Municipality–4, locals immediately informed the police after the fire broke out. The blaze, which started around midnight, was brought under control by 1:30 am.
He stated that despite Nepal having three tiers of government in operation, the local government had not arranged a fire engine, which made it difficult to control the fire.
After receiving information about the incident, personnel from Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and the Nepal Army, along with local residents, worked together to bring the fire under control.
Information Officer of the District Police Office, Police Inspector Sudhir Kumar Khadka, said the fire was doused with the joint efforts of Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and the Nepal Army.
He added that the exact details of the damage have not been officially confirmed as the victim has not yet filed a formal complaint. However, according to locals, the loss is estimated at around Rs. 2.5 million.
Police confirmed that there were no human casualties in the incident.
