Voters urged to exercise the franchise confidently

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Feb. 20: Minister for Home Affairs Om Prakash Aryal has urged voters to participate confidently in the elections scheduled for March 5, assuring that all necessary security arrangements have been put in place.

The Home Minister expressed this view while addressing a meeting of the Central Security Committee, chaired by him at the Ministry on Thursday afternoon. Minister Aryal said that with well-coordinated and reliable security measures, the election will be conducted as scheduled, with the full support and cooperation of all relevant agencies.

At the meeting, the heads of all three security forces, Nepali Army, and officials of the District Security Committees reported to Home Minister Aryal that security arrangements were being finalised and that district-level security strategies were being implemented in a phase-wise manner.

According to the Home Minister’s Secretariat, the meeting also included a detailed discussion on the implementation of the central election security strategy and overall preparations for the polls.

Held via Zoom, the meeting saw Home Minister Aryal receive updates on the implementation of provincial and district-level security strategies and election preparations from the Central Security Committee officials, chief secretaries of all seven provinces (provincial command post heads), and chief district officers of all 77 districts. Presentations were also made by the District Security Committee officials, coordinated by the provincial chief secretaries and chief district officers.
