Turkish Airlines makes safe landing in Kolkata after signal of fire in right engine

Kathmandu, Feb 4: The Turkish Airlines rerouted its flight and landed safely in Kolkata, India after noticing a signal of fire in its right engine on Wednesday.     

An Istanbul-bound flight from Kathmandu, bearing the name THY 727 had witnessed a fire signal within four minutes of take off from Tribhuvan International Airport at 01:29pm.     

A press statement issued by TIA Search and Rescue Coordination Centre informed that the aircraft had reported the 'right engine on fire 4DME west' to approach control in Kathmandu after it departed from TIA.     

The flight was held in the dark for a while after the fire signal and later diverted to Kolkata, India. The flight landed safely in Kolkata at 3:03pm, the Centre added.     

Total 236 persons including 11 crew members were onboard. All passengers and crew members are safe, the TIA added.(RSS)
