By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, Jan 24:Padmakanya Vidhyashram Secondary School, Dillibazar, celebrated its 78th anniversary on Friday by organising various programmes.

The event was held in the presence of Prof. Padma Prasad Devkota, an academician, poet and son of Mahakavi Laxmi Prasad Devkota, as the chief guest.

Addressing the programme, Prof. Devkota appreciated the school for its consistent academic performance, saying it had set a strong example of excellence. He remarked that the achievements of Padmakanya Vidhyashram proved that community schools can perform as well as, or even better than, private institutions.

The school currently offers engineering and beautician courses in addition to the general education stream.

Headmaster Rita Tiwari said the school is steadily competing with private schools in terms of infrastructure and quality of education.

On this occasion, the school held its first convocation ceremony for Grade 12 engineering graduates. Scholarships were also distributed to students for outstanding academic performance.
