By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Jan. 20: The five-day cinema interaction programme organised by the Film Development Board has begun in Tanahun district.
Starting from January 16, the programme includes mobile cinema screenings in places without cinema halls, discussions with local representatives on culture and film tourism, and interaction programmes between students and film professionals.
The programme is being conducted in Maghde and Bandipur Rural Municipalities and several wards of Vyas Municipality.
Under the programme, Nepali films ‘Kosedhunga,’ ‘Rangi,’ and the short film ‘Khushi’ have been screened, which has significantly increased enthusiasm and interest in Nepali cinema among local audiences.
The participating film professionals have been warmly welcomed and honoured by the local community with traditional cultural attire and Rodhi culture, strengthening the relationship between local culture and cinema.
The programme is being conducted by a team including producer and actor of the film ‘Kosedhunga’ Dinesh Khadka, writer and director Janak Khadka, film manager Subas Raj Kafle, film editor and drone pilot Nahakul Khadka, and Film Development Board officer Harisingh Raikhola, among others.
During the programme, Maghde Rural Municipality chair, Shree Prasad Shrestha, interacted with the filmmakers and said that the local government is always positive and committed to promoting tourism through cinema.
He informed that policies and budgets have given priority to the development, conservation, and promotion of religious, cultural, and tourist sites, as well as potential filming locations within the municipality.
Organised to expand film culture, promote tourism, and increase access to cinema in rural areas through direct interaction among local governments, students, and film professionals, the programme is expected to raise public awareness about the importance, potential, and social role of Nepali cinema.
