By Our Correspondent,Nepalgunj, Jan. 16: Senior folk singer Kamal BK ‘Nirmohi’ of Nepalgunj is in a critical condition, following the kidney failure.

The Treatment Support Committee, formed to assist Nirmohi in his kidney treatment, handed over Rs. 563,477 to the senior singer.

According to Namaskar Shah, coordinator of the Treatment Support Committee, the total amount of Rs. 563,477 includes Rs. 535,477 collected by the committee, Rs. 21,000 raised by Banke Kala Kendra, Rs. 5,000 donated by Commit Nepal, and Rs. 2,000 contributed by disability rights activist Harikala Thapa.

At a programme chaired by Shah, who is also the Executive Director of BAS Nepal, the committee members, along with the coordinator, handed over the cheque to senior singer Nirmohi and his wife, Heram Devi Bishwokarma.

Speaking at the event, Nirmohi expressed his gratitude for the support, saying that the assistance was not only financial help but also a sign of goodwill and respect.

Coordinator Shah said that the committee would continue to work actively to support Nirmohi’s treatment and that the fundraising campaign would continue.

Nirmohi, who has been active in Nepali folk music and the media sector for more than three decades, has been ill for the past one and a half years. Due to his worsening health, he is now confined to his bed at his home in Nepalgunj.

A senior radio professional and folk singer who once entertained audiences through music and broadcasting, Nirmohi is currently facing one of the most difficult struggles of his life. He is presently undergoing dialysis twice a week. As both of his kidneys have failed, he urgently needs a kidney transplant, for which both a donor and financial support are required.
