Taragaon Next reopens with new exhibitions

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Jan. 15: Taragaon Next, a contemporary art space in Boudhha, has reopened to the public from December 16 after being closed for three months for renovation.

Since reopening, it has announced many new exhibitions, film screenings, workshops and learning programmes for the coming months.

At present, visitors can see the exhibition 'Archiving for the Future', which looks at how artists use records and memories in their work. There are also events with a filmmaker from Türkiye and a talk by an artist from Spain.

For schools, Taragaon Next is offering eight different workshop programmes for hands-on learning. There are also special activities about ecology and art, which visitors can join by asking at the entrance.

Two big exhibitions are planned for early 2026. Artist Saurab Koirala will show his work as part of the Artist in Studio programme on Thursday. Koirala is known for making sculptures of animals and insects using old materials such as car parts and used cans. 

On 16 January, Spanish artist Josep Pinol will give a talk about carbon markets and environmental issues.

In February 2026, Taragaon Next will hold an exhibition called Object in Focus, which will show a sculpture by artist Sanjeep Maharjan.

Also in February, Turkish artist and filmmaker Mayis Rukel will visit. He will lead workshops and talks and will show his film Movement Song.
