By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Jan. 2: The ‘Digi School’ campaign has been moving forward effectively with the aim of increasing digital literacy in schools across Nepal.
Launched to make technology-based education easy, accessible and practical, the campaign has begun bringing positive changes among students, teachers and the school management.
Under the campaign, digital classrooms, the use of smart boards, online teaching materials, teacher training, and digital skill development programmes for students are being implemented in schools, said Bigyan Shrestha, Chairman of Digi Group.
“This has made the learning process more interesting and effective by combining traditional teaching methods with technology,” he said. “Digital literacy is not only a need of the hour but also the foundation for building the future of the country.”
Shrestha stated that the primary objective of the campaign is to equip students with the skills, creativity, and competitiveness necessary in information technology through the effective use of technology.
Priority has been given to expanding the reach of digital education, especially in rural and inaccessible schools, he said.
Through Digi School, teachers are provided with training on digital tools, e-learning platforms and modern teaching methods, while programmes focusing on safe internet use and innovative thinking are being conducted for students.
The campaign has made a significant contribution to developing a 21st-century learning culture by making school education relevant all times. According to Digi School, students from 250 schools have benefited from the programme.
The campaign will be expanded in the coming days to create a “digitally competent generation” by connecting more schools to the digital network, the organisation said.
At a time when digital transformation in the education sector is becoming inevitable, the Digi School campaign is being viewed as an example of collaboration among government, private and community schools.
The campaign is expected to take Nepal’s education system to new heights by moving towards a digitally literate society.
On the occasion of entering its fifth year of establishment, Digi School has also introduced programmes such as student-focused Digi Medical Services and in-school health check-up services.
