Govt. successful in conducting elections under difficult circumstances: Law Minister Sinha

Kathmandu, March 8: Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anil Kumar Sinha has stated that the government has been successful in conducting elections under difficult circumstances.

After a review meeting at the Election Commission today, he mentioned that the government, formed with the responsibility of holding elections in tough situations, has accomplished its main task.     

"Even when facing various types of pressures, the Commission has played a leading role in completing the elections on time," he said. "There was coordination with various political parties to create an environment for the elections."     

The upcoming government should work not out of a desire for change but to provide convenient services to the people and work for economic prosperity, he suggested. Minister Sinha stated that the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs will fulfill the minimum requirements to convene the first meeting of parliament in the new parliamentary building for the elected members.     

Minister Sinha also informed that preparations are being made to hold the first parliamentary meeting in the new parliamentary building under construction within Singha Durbar.     

Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal, Officiating Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari, Commissioners Dr. Janaki Kumari Tuladhar and Sagun Shamsher Rana, Secretary of the Commission Krishna Bahadur Raut, heads of security agencies, and other senior officials participated in the review meeting.(RSS)
