Musahar Community feels relief as Lahan Municipality supports in death ritual

By Jibachh Yadav, Lahan, Dec 3: People of Musahar community are having a great relief as Lahan Municipality has started to provide support for their death rituals. 

Lahan Municipality has started to provide firewood, cash and food for death rituals of the Musahar community, seeing that the financially deprived community people were compelled to borrow from landlord even for performing death rituals of their family members.

Sonia Sadaay said that Lahan Municipality was providing 1 quintal rice, 5 kg lentils, 5 kg salt, 5 liter oil for death rituals.  

Bauka Sadaya of Lahan-13 expressed his happiness and said that it has been a great relief as Municipality has begun to grant assistance for firewood and food.  

Lahan Municipality Mayor Mahesh Prasad Chaudhary said that the municipality has allocated a budget of Rs. 25 lakhs this fiscal year to provide for death rituals to the Mushar community and family of the dalit and poor.  

He informed that municipality will start health insurance campaign from mid-December for the dalit and poor who are over 50 year old.

Mayor Chaudhary informed that there are programs like housing, free tuition class, education stationery for the Musahar community who remained socio-economic and politically backward.  

Mayor Chaudhary added that the programs to provide assistance have now been started to provide to other communities also like Dusaadh community, Chamar community, Khatawe Mandal community and Tatma community among other non-dalit community.
