By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Dec 1: A meeting between a Nepali delegation and the Parliamentary Friends of Nepal Chairman Kathleen Matthews-Ward, MP was held at the Parliament House of Victoria, Australia, located in Melbourne.
Lumbini-Kapilvastu Global Campaign (LKGC) Global Coordinator Ram Kumar Shrestha, Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) Senior Scientist Dr. Raju Adhikari, Mayor of Godawari Municipality Gajendra Maharjan, Mayor of Kothekhola Rural Municipality Raju Thapa, Ward Chair of Godawari Municipality Shekhar Neupane, Dan Ghising, and women entrepreneur Rachana Shrestha were in Nepali team and they discussed various topics of mutual interest between the two countries, according to press note issued on November 30 by LKGC.
The Nepali delegation expressed the view that the Australia-Nepal Forest Development Project had been popular and effective in Nepal, and it would be beneficial if it could be resumed.
MP Kathleen stated that if the relevant proposals reach her through the appropriate channels, she will make every possible effort to give them concrete form.
Following a preliminary meeting, the Wyndham City Council unanimously passed decision to establish a Sister City Relationship with Nepal's Godawari Municipality and the Nepali team expressed commitment to effectively move forward to materialize Wyndham City Council decision.
Prior to the meeting, at the Werribee Asia-Pacific Expo 2025, Lumbini-Kapilvastu Global Campaign Global Coordinator Ram Kumar Shrestha, Senior Scientist of CSIRO Dr. Raju Adhikari, young space scientist Mohan Tamang, and Graham Kent, who has been providing continuous support to Nepal for 25 years, among others, were honored by Kathleen Matthews-Ward MP as the Chief Guest of the event.
Earlier, LKGC Global Coordinator Shrestha was honored with the "Heritage and Truth Ambassador Award" by the Awesome program for his 15-years tireless contribution in dispelling misconception on Buddha all over the world. In the same program, Amit Pradhan was honored with the "Artistic Innovation & Cultural Voice Award" and Prerana Mall was honored with the "Wellbeing & Community Empowerment Award."
According to S-Events Director Sunod Shrestha, the concept of the Awesome program aligns with the concept of 'Mha Puja' – both aim to recognize and inspire the immense energy inherent within an individual and bring it to the forefront. According to Vicky Shrestha, Chief Executive Officer of Maven Consulting Group, the concept of the Awesome program is based on Buddha's final teaching, "Be a light unto yourself."
