By Gun Bahadur Roka, Sulikot, Dec 1: One leopard has been found dead and another in a semi-conscious state in the Gorkha district.
Chief of the Divisional Forest Office, Gorkha, Madan Kumar Shandilya, said that one dead male leopard and another semi-conscious male leopard were found in the community forest of Dhiki Dada in Barpak, Sulikot Rural Municipality-8, Gorkha district, on Sunday evening.
According to him, the locals reported the matter to the Division Forest Office, Gorkha, after finding one male leopard, about 5-6 months old, in a semi-conscious state, along with the dead leopard near the community forest.
Office Chief Shandilya said, "We suspect that a leopard may have fallen off a cliff and died, while another leopard has been found in a semi-conscious state, may have been poisoned by someone, so we are in discussions to release it into its natural habitat or send it to a rescue center after it gradually recovers."
A team from the Division Forest Office, Gorkha, went to the scene, prepared a report, and brought the dead leopard to the Division Forest Office, Gorkha, for a postmortem.
Forest officials say that a postmortem of the dead leopard will be conducted on Monday and a pit will be dug at the relevant location to manage it.
The male leopard found dead is said to be 47 inches long and 17 inches high, while the live leopard is 41 inches long and 18 inches high.
