By Hari Krishna Sharma, Mustang, Nov 14: Damodarkund shrine area has
been covered with snow at this time.
Located at an altitude of 4,890 meters, the shrine is holy for both the
Hindus and Buddhists.
Due to snowing, pilgrims who cannot walk to the pond need to take a helicopter
for the visit during winter.
For a chartered helicopter to this shrine at Lo-Ghekar Damodarkunda Rural Municipality-4, Mustang, visitors should mandatorily take permission from security
committee.
The shrine, pond, is the source of the Kaligandaki River and head of
the Mukti Chhetra.
It is an attractive destination for adventure travel.
Devotees take shaligram and water from the pond as it is believed that keeping them at temples inside home brings one virtue. There are three ponds here- Chakrakunda, Dudhkunda and Tamakunda.
