Bhandari, Sapkota come first in NOC 10 km race

Kathmandu, Nov 8: Pradeep Bhandari and Sumana Sapkota have come first in the men's and women's race respectively organized by Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) to mark its anniversary here today.

The 10-km race was organised among NOC employees, media persons and private sector representatives with the aim of spreading health awareness through athletics.

Bhandari won among the men completing the distance in 53 minutes and 10 seconds. The race was held at the Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwor. Likewise, Digambar Pant came second and Manoj Kumar Das came third in the competition. 

Similarly, Sapkota, who came first among the women in the 5-kilometer race, covered the distance in 32 minutes and 9 seconds. Similarly, Sharmila Katuwal came second and Raj Kumari Rai came third.

The winners received medals and prizes from NOC Executive Director Dr Chandika Prasad Bhatta and former marathoner Baikuntha Manandhar. Bhandari and Sapkota, who came first in the men's and women's categories, were awarded 50-gram silver coins as well.

Around 130 people, including NOC employees, media personnel, and the private sector representatives, participated in the competition, which was organized in coordination with the NOC's Sinamangal-based aviation fuel depot. (RSS)
