Kathmandu, Nov 8: Mayor of Chandragiri Municipality Ghanashyam Giri and German Ambassador to Nepal Udo Eugen Volz held a meeting on Friday.

On the occasion, the two discussed about the Maternity & Gynecology Specialized Hospital to be constructed in Chandragiri-4, Thankot with the financial and technical assistance worth Rs 1 billion of the German Development Bank (KFW).

On the occasion, Mayor Giri informed that his team has been facilitating and coordinating for establishing the specialized hospital, and assured that such work will continue in the coming days.

The 25-bed Maternity and Gynecology Specialized Hospital is to be established in Thankot as a 'satellite' hospital of Thapathali-based Maternity Hospital.

In this connection, KFW has approved the preliminary design and a 'global tender' process.

KFW has already pledged to provide approximately one billion rupees in financial and technical assistance for the hospital.

The Cabinet has approved 23 ropani of land to the municipality to establish the specialized hospital on the premises of the Thankot Primary Hospital.

With coordination support from the municipality, the Nepal government, the Ministry of Health and Population, and KFW have prepared a detailed project report (DPR).

A field study was also conducted this year to prepare a report required to advance the design and global tender process of the hospital. (RSS)
