Kathmandu, Nov 7: The meeting of the speakers-both from federal and provincial parliaments- has requested the federal government that it reconsidered the decision on provincial laws.
The meeting held at a call of Speaker of the House of Representatives, Devraj Ghimire, in Singha Durbar on Friday concluded that the federal government's decision to curtail province's rights would make it difficult to maintain rule of law.
The federal government has been urged to evaluate the damages inflicted to the National Assembly, House of Representatives and the Province Assemblies, and make alternative arrangements to run the meetings. The government is also urged to intensify the reconstructions of the damaged buildings.
Information on it was shared by Speaker Ghimire's press advisor Shekhar Adhikari.
The speakers also sought federal support for adequate security to the provincial institutions.
The meeting was attended by Ghimire, Chairman of the National Assembly, Narayan Dahal, Vice Chairperson Bimala Ghimire, Deputy Speaker Indira Rana, and Speakers and Deputy Speakers from seven province assemblies.(RSS)
