Kathmandu, Nov 7: Nepali Congress leader Dr Shekhar Koirala has stressed the need of holding party's 15th general convention by coming mid-January.

During the meeting with NC district presidents and former district presidents available in Kathmandu today, he expressed the view that the general convention should be organised by coming mid-January at any cost if it could not be held in December due to various reasons including country's current situation.

"The NC should go for election with new and fresh leadership by organising the general convention before the coming election to the House of Representatives. I have been saying for long that the general convention should be organised within December," he opined.

Stressing the need of preparing the schedule for general convention keeping in mind the election schedule published by the Election Commission, leader Koirala emphasized that the NC should move ahead being united, serious, responsible and restrained.

He underlined that he has wanted unity and reconciliation in the party, pointing out the need of moving ahead together by ending factionalism.

"Honest, loyal and continuously active friends across the country have saved the party. Millions of well-wishers of the NC and other external parties have now been waiting NC's decision," added the NC leader. (RSS)
