Relation Between AI And Knowledge

blog

Artificial Intelligence (AI), often referred to as "alien intelligence" by Yuval Noah Harari, is a buzzword today. It is elusive in everyone's everyday life. Its ambivalent nature has taken us to a more confusing situation. Everyone looks askance at the question "Is AI good for all?" The question sounds absurd. There is no definite answer in "Yes" or "No". Most of us argue for the positive implications of AI because we have been utilising it in our everyday activities. Moreover, we take it for granted as it solves our confusion without any hard work or mental exercise. Just click the app, get the information, and you are jubilant with the elaborated solution. The concern here is not the way we acquire the desired information, but it is about how the school children are overwhelmed by its infinite information and solutions. Consequently, over the last few years, school children have been pushed backward with fading creativity and human nature.

AI technology and applications have entered the field of education in more recent times, simultaneously across the world. Many a time, this has become urgent and necessary because the pace of education has been remarkably accelerated with it. AI has started to play a vital role in the field of education from the primary level to the university level. The current advancements in communication have paved the way for AI to assist in the field of education. The role of AI in education has been growing increasingly. In the 21st century, AI is sure to be a decisive factor for higher levels of education, research and innovation. Today's education requires practical knowledge so that the students will have the certainty of job placement. AI has started to be a part and parcel of all in the field of education.

Source of information

All sorts of learners, especially school and higher-level students, take AI as a source of information and knowledge. Many of them are completely dependent on AI, while a large number of them do not totally believe/depend on it. AI is a flood of communication generated by the development of science and technology, and everybody succumbs to its territory. Students find AI amazing due to its instant solution to problems in any subject or area of study. These days, every student is under pressure due to several deadlines, and they find AI a platform of solution or an amicable outlet. Students from elementary level to university level have been engrossed with AI in such a way that they have started to take any questions/problems of intellect for granted because AI is an appendage 24 hours. The attachment of students with AI is not always natural because it can bewilder students with the flow of information.

The process of learning varies from rote learning to creative learning, especially among students who pursue knowledge formally or on their own. With the aid of AI today, the process of learning has undergone a drastic change. Put simply, students today are wary of getting the answer at the earliest possible moment when they are really unaware that the real and profound knowledge is being overtaken by the overflow of information, so that they enjoy the shallow information to form a vital opinion or perspective. Back then, without AI, one could plunge deep into the realm of knowledge and ponder over the sources of knowledge so as to come to a logical end. It would be safe to make an ultimate decision after crisscross arguments within one's own mind or among the thoughtful minds.

What is fascinating about AI is the way it is accessible in every nook and corner of the world, 24 hours. Apart from students involved in their academic pursuits, AI is equally utilised in other areas as well. It is the main source of information, and information, as Harari says, is the oxygen of the modern world. All you need is an electronic gadget, such as a laptop, tablet, or smartphone, with which you can grow rich with information that can be utilised to further your goals. AI makes it easy to get updated on every area, such as language, education, sports, music and several facets of pop culture. Compared to the sources of information in the past centuries and decades, AI has brought about a revolution and everybody feels short of information because the flux of information is going to be unspeculative the next moment.

Two extremes

A person falls between the extremes of knowing everything and not knowing anything at the same time. These days, a learner or a student of any sort is overly dependent on information rather than on profound knowledge. Therefore, AI has been the main cause of the loss of our pursuit of knowledge. Everybody is reluctant to turn the pages of a book and spend a great deal of time reasoning to go to the store of knowledge. Arguably, the loss from AI is more obvious than the profit it generates. At present, literally speaking, everyday home assignments of students are copied and pasted directly from the storehouse of AI.

If this trend and the dose of AI keep going at this increasing and alarming rate, no one can say whether there will be any stake of true knowledge and conception among human beings in the future. Undoubtedly, AI is highly useful in the education sector, but it may have negative impacts on Alpha Beta generation in the process of their intuition. If future generation is instigated by AI with misinformation and disinformation, it will have long-term negative impacts on the whole system of development. Therefore, AI must be utilised prudently.
