By Rajan Rawat, Humla, March 10: Air service to Humla has been disrupted since Monday due to technical issues and flight irregularities.

According to the Chief of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, Mahendra Singh, flights have remained suspended for two consecutive days.

He said that although flights were scheduled by Summit Air and Nepal Airlines on Monday and Tuesday, services could not operate after a technical problem was seen in the Summit Air aircraft, while the Nepal Airlines aircraft did not return to Nepalgunj from Kathmandu.

Currently, private airlines have been operating flights to Humla twice a week on a rotational basis. Nepal Airlines usually operates flights on Mondays and Tuesdays, but the flights have not been regular in recent times.

The suspension of air service has affected passengers who had travelled to the district from outside to cast their votes during the election.

Similarly, patients referred by hospitals for treatment outside the district have also faced difficulties due to the halted flights.

More than 700 passengers had arrived in the district by air, who have been unable to leave the district.
