BY A STAFF REPORTER,Kathmandu, Sep. 29: President Ramchandra Paudel has extended his best wishes for happiness, peace, prosperity, good health, and continuous progress to all Nepali brothers and sisters, both at home and abroad, on the occasion of Bada Dashain.

In his message issued on Sunday, President Paudel stated, “I believe that the preservation and promotion of the Dashain festival helps foster unwavering respect and deep love for the nation and national identity. I wish the festival brings renewed enthusiasm, joy, and positive energy to us all.”

He also urged everyone to work together with patience and cooperation to overcome difficulties, uphold peace, stability, and good governance. “May Goddess Durga empower us all to bring welfare and progress to our nation,” he added.

Additionally, Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav also conveyed warm and heartfelt greetings to all Nepalis, wishing for happiness, peace, and prosperity.

In his message, the Vice President said that the festival fosters family reunions, mutual goodwill, and reconciliation, strengthening social bonds.

He also called upon all citizens to let go of negative tendencies like anger, greed, and ego, and instead cultivate positive thinking and good values.

Furthermore, he expressed hope that the festival would inspire deeper public commitment to the constitutional rights, civic freedoms, and inclusive representation ensured by Nepal’s constitution.

He also expressed his belief that Dashain would unite all citizens against injustice and social division, and ignite a spirit of responsibility, harmony, and national solidarity.

Bada Dashain, the greatest festival of Hindus, is celebrated with devotion, strength, and faith. It begins with Ghatasthapana on the first day of the bright fortnight of Asoj, followed by nine days of worship dedicated to Goddess Durga. On Vijaya Dashami, elders offer tika and jamara to younger family members as blessings, a tradition that continues until the full moon day.

The festival commemorates the victory of Goddess Durga over the demon Mahishasur and Lord Ram’s triumph over Ravan, representing the triumph of good over evil.
