Shivajan Wins Municipal-Level Running Shield Title

By Shankar KC,Salyan, May 3: Shivajan Secondary School has secured first place in the 8th President Running Shield Competition held at the municipal level in Sharada Municipality, following intense competition.

Shivajan Secondary School, located in Ward No. 1, clinched the title by winning a total of 29 medals, including 16 gold, 9 silver and 4 bronze. Tribhuvan Jan Secondary School finished in second place with 30 medals (15 gold, 8 silver and 7 bronze), while Modern Tulsi Academy came third with 20 medals (7 gold, 6 silver and 7 bronze).

Similarly, Laxmi Secondary School, Syanikhal, secured a consolation position with a total of 15 medals, including 5 gold, 6 silver and 4 bronze.

Schools achieving top positions in the competition were awarded cash prizes of Rs 25,000, 20,000, 15,000 and 10,000 respectively, along with certificates and trophies. Medals and certificates were also presented to athletes who excelled in various events. According to the organisers, schools and referees who contributed to the successful conduct of the competition were honoured, and outstanding players were also awarded trophies.

The competition, organised by Tribhuvan Jan Secondary School, Luhaping, included boys’ and girls’ volleyball, kabaddi, athletics, and martial arts events such as karate and taekwondo. Students from 16 community and institutional schools participated in the event.

Prizes were distributed to the schools and athletes by Sharada Municipality Mayor Prakash Bhandari, Deputy Mayor Susmita Sapkota, Chief Administrative Officer Harichandra Budha, Armed Police Force Salyan Chief Bharat Bahadur Kunwar, Ward No. 2 Chairperson Sabin Hamal, Ward No. 13 Chairperson Jang Bahadur Budha, among others.

The event was attended by headteachers from various schools, coaches, journalists, security personnel, teachers, athletes, and local sports enthusiasts.
