By Shaligram Nepal, Chitwan, July 30: It has been found that 25,733 households in Chitwan district are at risk of floods and landslides.
Chief District Officer (CDO) of Chitwan, Prakash Poudel, said that more than 25,000 households in seven municipalities of the district are at risk of floods and landslides.
A population of 128,665 in the seven municipalities of the district is expected to be affected by the monsoon.
According to him, Rapti Municipality in eastern Chitwan has been the worst affected by the floods. Statistics show that 50,950 people from 10,109 households in this municipality have been affected.
Chief District Officer Prakash Poudel said that more than 25,000 households in seven municipalities of the district are at risk of floods and landslides.
As per the preliminary report, population of 128,665 in the seven municipalities of the district is expected to be affected by the monsoon.
According to the District Disaster Management Committee, initial reports indicate that 33,175 people from 6,635 households in Bharatpur Metropolitan City, 19,730 people from 3,946 households in Madi Municipality, and 11,905 people from 2,381 households in Ratnanagar Municipality will be affected.
Chief District Officer Prakash Poudel said that 5,025 people from 1,005 families in Kalika Municipality, 1,600 from 320 families in Khairhani Municipality, and 6,280 people from 1,256 families in Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality will be affected.
Poudel said that all preparations have been made for security, keeping in mind of risk of incidents due to floods.
Residents of flood-prone riverbanks have been urged to be vigilant, he said, adding that all structures have been put in place for rescue.
Chief District Officer Poudel said that the concerned bodies have been urged to keep necessary food, health supplies, and rescue materials ready.
