By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, July 29: The government has expanded its official platform—Shramsansar--for labour market information and employment, focusing on the wellbeing of the Nepali labourers working in home and abroad.
On Monday, the platform was officially linked to Nagarik App as per the strategic action plan to ensure access of all aspiring and working labourers to the services as well as rescue reliefs for those stranded abroad.
This comprehensive platform developed by the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security bridges the gap between job seekers, employers, training providers, and employment service agencies by offering a centralised system to access, share, and manage employment-related data and services.
Inaugurating the partnership between Shramsansar and Nagarik App at the ministry on Monday, Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security Sarat Singh Bhandari said that efforts are being made to expand digital workspace and promote citizen-friendly good governance by making all services provided by the ministry accessible to all citizens.
As the key platfrom is connected to Nagarik App, unemployed people will no longer have to visit various websites to access labour and employment services and will not have to wait for services, Minister Bhandari said.
Stating that Shramsansar has been expanded, the Minister Bhandari expressed that additional facilities have been provided to Nepalis in foreign lands.
The ministry claimed that full implementation of digital platform - Shramsansar - will eliminate the hassle, delay and ambiguity in service delivery as the ministry is developing a strategic digital system as a common and integrated information system for internal employment, foreign employment, labour market management and employment-oriented services.
Stating that the ministry is expanding services and technology by keeping the workers at the centre, Minister Bhandari has requested the media and journalists to provide suggestion for the improvement in the information system put forward by the ministry as the use of technology is necessary to achieve the goal of Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali.
On the occasion, member of National Planning Commission Dr. Prakash Kumar Shrestha said that the ministry should be vigilant to ensure that digital barriers do not arise for citizens while accessing services while developing digital systems.
He expressed happiness that the ministry has paid attention to the development and expansion of technology as the information system plays an important role in the implementation of the16th plan.
Presenting the ministry's strategic digital roadmap and action plan, Labour Expert Advisor to Minister Bhandari Yubaraj Basnet said that the use of advance technology such as artificial intelligence and machine learning has been emphasised while integrating information related to labour, employment and social security within 2030 and providing services to citizens.
He clarified that the Shramsansar is a platform for providing information on employment and entrepreneurship opportunities in the labour market.
"It is a structure designed to establish a relationship between the stakeholders of the employment system, such as public and private labour market agencies, training providers, employment service providers, employment providers (companies or institutions, employment providing organizations or agencies), and to establish a sustainable complementarity between them," he said.
Local government will have access to information on the actual situation of the labour market. It is expected that the key platform will be important for establishing easily accessible information for effective and efficient management of human resources.
Chief of the Internal Employment Management Division of the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security Krishna Prasad Sapkota said that future labour and employment services will be based on technology and that the path of policy and legal reforms has been paved for this.
