18% of women in Kavre are widows, single

By Kedar Timalsina,Banepa, Dec. 7: In Kavrepalanchok district, 18 per cent of the total female population aged 10 and above are windows and single women.

According to the statistics on the status of widows and single women made public by the National Statistics Office, 18 per cent of women aged 10 and above in the district are widows and single women. 

According to the Statistics Coordination Office, Kavrepalanchok, the total population of women aged above 10 in the district stands at 160,564.  Of them, 28, 905 are widows and single. 

According to the office, the number of widows in the district is 13,052 while the remaining 15,853 are single women. 

The statistics show that 617 widows and 756 single women are in Chaurideurali Rural Municipality of the district. Likewise, 685 widows and 836 single women are in Bhumlu Rural Municipality, and 1,193 widows and 1,383 single women are in Mandandeupur Municipality. 

Similarly, there are 2,198 widows and 2,767 single women in Banepa Municipality, 1,245 widows and 1,559 single women in Dhulikhel Municipality, and 1,369 widows and 1,650 single women in Panchkhal Municipality, according to the Statistics Coordination Office, Kavrepalanchok. 

Similarly, Temal Rural Municipality has 683 widows and 815 single women, Namobuddha Municipality has 1,135 widows and 1,321 single women, and Panauti Municipality has 2,033 widows and 2,432 single women. 

Similarly, 585 widows and 720 single women are in Bethanchok Rural Municipality, 730 widows and 904 single women in Roshi Rural Municipality, 324 widows and 370 single women in Mahabharat Rural Municipality, and 256 widows and 318 single women are in Khanikhola Rural Municipality of the district.

According to statistics, the population of women aged above 10 in Chaurdeurali Rural Municipality of the district is 6,621, while it is 7,110 in Bhumlu, 13,499 in Mandandeupur, 30,036 in Banepa and 15,023 in Dhulikhel. 

Likewise, 16,000 women aged above 10 years are in Panchkhal Municipality. Their population is 7,703 in Temal, 11,892 in Namobuddha, 23,198 in Panauti, and 6,639 in Bethanchowk Rural Municipality. 

In Rosi Rural Municipality, the number of women aged above 10 is 10,588, while 6,693 women aged above 10 live in Mahabharat Rural Municipality and 4,950 in Khanikhola Rural Municipality. 

According to the census 2068, out of the number of women above the age of 10 in the district, the number of widows was 6,655, the number of divorced women was 84, and the number of separated women was 323.
