One dead in Jhapa road mishap

By Leelaraj Khadka, Birtamod, July 28: A pedestrian died after being hit by a jeep at Saharedangi on the  Charali-Budhabare road section in Mechinagar, Jhapa.

An unidentified person died after being hit by a vehicle in Mechinagar-12, Saharedangi, according to the District Police Office, Jhapa.

A male (identity unascertained) was hit by a Scorpio (Me 1 Cha 6131) en route from Ilam towards Charali on the Saharedangi of Mechi Highway at Mechinagar-12, at 7:30 pm on Sunday.

The man, aged around 45, who was seriously injured in the accident, died in the course of treatment at B&C Medical College Teaching Hospital and Research Center, Birtamod.

The doctor declared him dead shortly after he was brought to the hospital. The body of the deceased is still kept at the same hospital.

Police have taken into custody the Scorpio that hit a pedestrian and fled, and its driver, 48-year-old Gajendra Bahadur Bista of Haldibari Rural Municipality-1.
