Kathmandu, July 28: Different parts of the country including the Kathmandu Valley received rainfall from early morning today. Some areas have received heavy rain while others have witnessed medium to heavy rain. However, there is no rain in the Tarai region as of now.
According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the weather is generally cloudy across the country now.
Meteorologist at the Division, David Dhakal, said slight rainfall has taken place in the northern belt of the Tarai adding chances of rainfall are not likely in the existing weather system.
In the last six hours, Dhankuta's Machhuwaghat received 42ml of rainfall, 42.2ml in Arughat (Gorkha), 40.8ml in Gamgadhi, Mugu, and 44.8ml in Lampatan, Kaski. This is close to the heavy rainfall.
Likewise, the Kathmandu Valley recorded medium rainfall with 15ml in the past six hours.
Some places of Ilam, Lamjung, Nuwakot and Sindhupalchowk districts recorded heavy rain in the past 12 hours, while Narpugaun in Sindhupalchowk recorded 127.4ml and Triveni in Dhankuta district recorded 112.8ml rainfall in the past 24 hours, the Division said.
The monsoon wind has its influence throughout the country at present with the monsoon low pressure trough slightly to the north from its average position in the east and to its average position in the west, the Division said.
Currently, most of the areas in Bagmati and Gandaki provinces and some places of Koshi, Lumbini and Karnali provinces and one or two places in Madesh and Sudurpaschim provinces have received rainfall. (RSS)
