Term of parliamentary committee formed to probe 'Cooling-off' error extended by week

Kathmandu, July 25: The term of a parliamentary special committee formed to investigate the error in the report of the Federal Civil Service Bill-2080 BS has been extended by one week.     

A meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) today agreed to the extension following a request made by the committee. During Speaker Devraj Ghimire informed the House that the committee had sought an additional week to complete its investigation.     

The special committee was formed by the lower house on July 7 to investigate the error related to the "cooling-off" provision in the State Affairs Committee's report on the Bill.     

Additionally, the session approved the reshuffling of responsibilities among some parliamentary committee members. Dikpal Kumar Shahi has been transferred from the Agriculture, Cooperative and Natural Resources Committee to the Women and Social Affairs Committee. Similarly, Bishnu Kumar Karki has been moved from the same committee to the Infrastructure Development Committee.     

Pratima Gautam has been reassigned from the Infrastructure Development Committee to the Agriculture Committee, while Asha BK has been moved from the Women and Social Affairs Committee to the Agriculture, Cooperative and Natural Resources Committee.     

The session approved these changes through a consensus.     

Furthermore, the House was informed by the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers that Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel has been designated to oversee the Ministry of Communication and Information in the absence of Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung, who departed for China on Thursday to participate in the " World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) 2025."(RSS)
