Five arrested for stealing from municipal office

By Janarjan Khatri, Sarlahi, July 23: Five people have been arrested for stealing from the Kabilasi Municipal office in Sarlahi district.

Various items were stolen from the Social Security Branch of the Municipal Office located in Kabilasi Municipality-8 on the night of July 20. 

The police have arrested five people involved in the theft and made them public.

The arrested have been identified as Rohit Mishra, aged 22, Surendra Rai, aged 40, Raju Paswan, aged 20, Lalaka Paswan, aged 22, and Deepak Paswan, aged 19, of Kabilasi Municipality-8.

Information Officer and DSP Saroj Rai of the District Police Office, Sarlahi, said that the investigation against them is being conducted by extending the remand period by five days for theft-related offenses by the District Court, Sarlahi.

"Among the items stolen from the municipality office, a printer was found in a drain near the municipality office on the morning of July 21. Other items were recovered from the house of 22-year-old Rohit Mishra, one of the arrested," DSP Rai said.

Police have recovered a CPU, a monitor, a keyboard, a chair, a router, and a multi-plug that were stolen from the municipal office while they were hidden in Mishra's house.

The District Police Office, Sarlahi, said that it has succeeded in arresting the people involved in the theft based on CCTV footage.
