By Bom Lal Giri, Nawalpur, July 18: One person died while two others sustained injuries when a motorcycle met with an accident in Nawalpur on Thursday night. Police said the condition of one of the injured is critical.
Police said that 35-year-old Shobha Sigdel, a resident of the same area, died when a motorcycle (Ga 7 Pa 2721) en route from Giruwari towards Basantapur hit Sigdel heading in the same direction on the inner road section at Bhupati Chowk, Hupsekot Rural Municipality-3.
"Sigdel, who suffered a serious head injury, died during treatment at Chitwan Medical College," said Deputy Superintendent of Police Madhu Nepal, Information Officer at the District Police Office.
Nepal said that 35-year-old Indira Koirala of the same place and motorcyclist Nishan Singh Thakuri of Hupsekot-2 were injured in the accident.
Police said that Koirala was referred to Chitwan Medical College after he was unable to receive treatment at Madhyabindu Regional Hospital and is undergoing treatment in a serious condition.
The driver, Thakuri, was taken into custody by the police after receiving treatment at a local medical facility. Nepal said that Thakuri was found to be driving the motorcycle under the influence of alcohol and did not have the necessary documents.
